Perpetual Chasm

Giant Rear screen projection 35’x 20’

26 second 16mm loop with stereo sound

Perpetual Chasm was an installation that sought to create an illusion of an endless chasm/ tunnel integrating a formally, similar cinematic architectural structure, a curved hallway at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Academy at the Castle of Solitude), an artist residency outside Stuttgart, Germany. The space was a perfect environment for a giant, seemless rear screen to be installed in the middle of the hall known as the Hirschgang Oberer, completely bisecting the space. In this fashion, the rear screen projection created an exacting mimicry of the architectural space creating a simulated tunnel. A stereo soundscape loop complemented the expanse and further immersed the viewer in this mysterious, dream-like illusion.

Perpetual Chasm was installed in the following festivals/venues:

2001

Edinburgh College of Art- As Part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival- Edinburgh, Scotland.
